A Brooklyn man is charged with running a major identity theft scheme, placing hundreds of liquor orders across Pennsylvania.
Attorney General Dave Sunday and the Pennsylvania State Police say 26-year-old Eugene Antwi used stolen identities and credit cards to place more than 200 online liquor orders across 21 Pennsylvania counties, totaling over $65,000.
He was arrested this week in New York and will be arraigned in Pennsylvania.
Antwi allegedly picked up the orders in person and is now charged with identity theft, fraud, forgery, and other offense.
The investigation involved the Statewide Investigating Grand Jury, and authorities say it underscores their commitment to cracking down on retail theft and fraud that affects every day Pennsylvanians.
“This defendant went to great lengths to steal from unsuspecting Pennsylvanians and defraud the Liquor Control Board, which oversees legal purchases of alcohol in the Commonwealth,” Attorney General Sunday said. “Our Organized Retail Crime Section is committed to collaborating with partners like the Pennsylvania State Police to combat theft and fraud that raise the prices of goods for hardworking Pennsylvanians.”
